About Bessacarr Evangelical Church
We are a church of about 200 people that meets in the suburb of Bessacarr on the edge of Doncaster. We are a diverse group of people of all ages and stages of life drawn from across the town and the surrounding area. For over 40 years we have been committed to the gospel both as we proclaim it to our community and as we seek to build one another up as the body of Christ.
We believe that the Bible is God’s word and so teaching the Bible is central to all that we do both as we meet together on Sunday and throughout the week. Click here for more on what we believe.
There is always lots going on at BEC. On top of our Sunday services we also have groups and events for children, teenagers, men, women and seniors as well as prayer meetings, home groups and Christianity Explored.
About our Women’s Ministry
In recent years the women’s ministry has grown under the leadership of a group of our ladies. There are regular Saturday morning events to encourage one another with Bible teaching that focuses on relevant issues. There are also 1-2-1's, a day time Bible study and evangelistic events with the aim of being a blessing to the local church and beyond.
We have also developed a number of links with women from the community through Bumps and Babies, Little Builders, Tea Time Church and Christianity Explored. All this means that there are many women both within and on the fringes of the church who we long to see reached and then discipled with the gospel so that they become mature followers of Christ.
At this exciting time in the life of our church we are seeking to appoint a godly Christian Woman as our Full-Time Women’s Worker who can join the staff team to help us in this vital ministry.
The Role of the Women’s Worker
This person would work with the staff and the women’s ministry team to multiply what is already happening. This ministry has alraedy been a great blessing to many and we want to see this blessing reaching to more and more people.
We are committed to the principle of every member ministry and so we are looking for someone who can equip other women in order that they can use their gifts to build up the rest of the church. We therefore expect that the women’s worker will spend a significant proportion of their time discipling women in 1-2-1 and small group situations.
In a church of our size there are often a number of women who are facing a range of different pastoral challenges and issues. We are looking for someone with the character and training to provide pastoral care and biblical counselling so that these people can grow in their faith through their particular struggles.
The women’s worker will also be involved in outreach among women (e.g. Toddlers, Tea-Time Church and Christianity Explored) as she seeks to build relationships with those attending these groups and helping them to come to know Christ and integrate into the life of the church.
Please take the time to look around the rest of the site which we hope will give you a snapshot of BEC.
